Millburn and Short Hills NJ
The town of Millburn includes the hamlet of Short Hills, which was developed as a planned community in the mid-1800s, but was always under the jurisdiction of Millburn. Millburn is particularly known for its excellent school system, including a high school that was awarded the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the US Dept of Education, and was listed as first in the state by NJ Monthly. As the superintendent put it, “It comes down to motivated, hard-working kids, supportive parents, and excellent faculty and administration. When you have that combination, it’s not hard to see why our kids do so well.” The establishment of the direct line to Penn Station greatly increased home values and demand, though demand was always high for this beautiful town. Millburn’s mature trees and gorgeous houses combine to produce an uncommonly pretty place to live.
Millburn is home to the well-known Paper Mill Playhouse, a regional theater that feels more like off-Broadway. Â And it’s a short distance to the South Mountain Reservation, a beautifully preserved park with 19 miles of hiking trails and many recreational activities.
